I think that they will die because the light might go out and they could fall or not be able to get food ready. And/or they might run out of food and die from starvation.
I think the people of Ember will starve because the lights could go out because if the generator breaks the people who fixes it will probably not know how to fix it and that means that they would not have power for a microwave or a stove so they would not be able to cook there food.
I think what will happen to the people of Ember is that they will DIE, because when the light goes out they will not be able to see or cook food or they will run out of food or fall of a cliff and DIE. And there is no way to stop the generator from braking, because no one knows how it works I know that no one knows how to fix it ,because on page 48 it says, “All I know is the river makes it go.”
I think that they will die because the light might go out because when Doon first got his job he walked in the generator room and someone said that if something breaks they just have to put it back in; and that might not work all the time so when the lights go out a few times they will probably not come back on and and they could fall or not be able to get food ready. And/or they might run out of food and die from starvation; because they are running out of food because the mayor is stealing food and if they weren't running out of food the Mayor wouldn’t be stealing food.
They are not running out, because the mayor is stealing the food that is not the big problem the big problem is that they have not had a restock in a long time.

The people will starve to because they are low on supplies and the lights will go out and not come back on because in the book it said that when something fell off they would just put it back.
